Chapter I

Basco, Batanes, Philippines, Mt. Iraya
PHIVOLCS Data Gathering

A team of seismologist is gathering data for their research of the geological origin of the Philippines. “Dr. Gonzales, we are finding strange data inside Mt. Iraya”. Dr. Gonzales stopped typing on his mini laptop and looked on the data the scientists gathered. “What is this??” he took the laptop and stared at it. “Doctor are you okay?” asked one of the scientists. “I can’t believe it, the magma readings are strange, it seems… No it can’t be… We must….” But before Dr. Gonzales is about to say something, the team was shaken with a terrible earthquake. “Dr. Gonzales, we must go now quickly!!” The scientists run for their lives, as they run one of the scientists dropped the laptop containing the strange data they’ve gathered. “No!! The data!!” shouted the shocked doctor. He ran for the laptop, and when he is about to grab the laptop, the ground opened and the doctor fell. “Doctor!!”
“Forget about the doctor, he’s gone!”
“Let’s go now! Everyone to the boat! Hurry”

When everyone got inside the boat, something caught all their attention…

“Mt. Iraya has erupted….” said the scientist. Everyone was stunned at the scene.

News Report: I am Tony Garcia of BSA Patrol, this has just come up, Mt. Iraya has erupted a few minutes ago. As for the research team of PHIVOLCS one is dead, and five are injured. After the eruption a series of earthquakes shocked the town of Basco, Batanes near the volcano…

“Have you phoned them already?”
“Yes, Sir they are okay, but Dr. Gonzales…”
“Yes doctor, we have lost a good scientist”
“Sir the scientists said they have uncovered a very strange data when they are researching at Mt. Iraya minutes before the eruption.”
“Where is this data you are telling?”
“I’m sorry Sir but it’s gone together with Dr. Gonzales, The survivors said that Dr. Gonzales is trying to grab the data when the ground opened and swallowed him down...”
“What ever it is… It’s an important data that caused the doctor’s death…”

Philippine Seismic Research Facility

A scientist named Dr. Robles is arguing with his colleagues. He is trying to prove that there is something wrong on the magma readings underneath the Philippines.

“Please don’t waste our time doctor; there are more important things than this unbelievable data of yours…”
“But please sir! “
“Enough! You are still young in this field, in fact you are a newly graduate student, and how could you gathered and proved this data without any help?”
“But...”
“One more and I will suspend your research on the field…”

Dr. Robles left the room failed; he went to his car and drove to his apartment. When he arrived he quickly checked his email. And to his surprise he received an email containing a shocking word…

“The Philippines is going to sink and will we split to pieces… If you don’t believe go to the Luneta Park near UN Ave Station today at 4:30 pm”

Dr. Robles scratched his head an said “Who the hell sended this joke”
Then another email has arrived. This time he was stunned, the email contained a data that matches his own data..

AS he stared on the monitor tears start to drop from his eyes. "It can't be... It can't be..."

Then something caught his attention, its a news from the television..

BSA FLASH PATROL:

After the eruption of Mt. Iraya, two consecutive eruptions have occured, Mt. Didicas and Claro erupted five hours ago. Villagers have been evacuated and there are no casualties. There are also reports of seismic activities at Cagayan. PHIVOLCS said it is a chain reaction and they are now investigating the reason of the eruptions and mysterious seismic activities. This is Tony Garcia reporting....

"What should I do? What should I do?!"
"They will not believe me... But I have no choice but to present this data to the scientists at PHIVOLCS"

Dr. Robles quickly phoned Dr. Arragoncillo...

"Hello? Who is this?"
"Doctor! Its Robles, I need to talk to you immediately, its urgent!"
"Doctor, I know its crazy but I think, I have the answer to this mysterious eruptions at the Babuyan region..."
"Are you sure about that?"
"Yes, doctor! Where can I give you the data?"
"Go to 437 Unit here at a condominium in Nakpil street. I will wait for you.

NAKPIL ST. 10:45 PM

"Doctor! open your computer quick!!"
"Are you okay, Robles your kinda pale and sweaty... Maybe you should rest for a while..."
"No!! We don't have enough time left!!!"

Dr. Arragoncillo opened his computer and inserted the disc given by Robles...

"Robles... Where did you get this???"
"From a stranger, he said it came from Dr. Gonzales...."
"From Dr. Gonzales? It can't be I saw him fall on the crack.... He is trying to get his laptop containing..... This data....."

Dr. Arragoncillo stared at the data....

"Robles, I think you are right after all...."
"Doctor? What should we do now?"
"I don't know Robles but we have only 140 days left and the data said that the delamination will start on July 5, 2009"

"Wait... It's June 30, what!!! you mean we have only five days left!!!??"

"Yes, Dr. Robles, and the delamination will start in Cagayan. and the earthquakes will trigger every active fault zone in the Philippines creating a chain reaction that will lead to the submergence of the archipelago..."

"Then we should contact PHIVOLCS!! Doctor,

"The data encoding is not yet finished Robles, there are 3 more phases of delamination, we should decode the whole phase, before we face PHIVOLCS.."

"Robles, the data here is not that accurate, we don't know where will be the location of the separation cracks would occur. And worse the delamination will trigger a major eruption of all Philippine volcanoes. Also I fear after the full delamination of the Philippines. Asia will suffer the same fate...."

And then the two scientist fell silent as they watch the decoding process...

wow.. prang bumilis bigla yung story.. you shouldve taken your time..

[review ko muna yung ginawa mo]

*andaming nadaanan na plot points kaagad xDD
*walang introduction sa character ni Robles tsaka yung kausap niya (mas maganda kung na-explain kung sino sila.. etc.)
*less descriptions on the surroundings/environment (medyo mahirap tuloy imagine-in yung kwento)

June 31, 2009 149 Days Until First Phase of Delamination
Nakpil St. Dr. Arragoncillo's Condo Unit.

Dr. Arragoncillo can't wait to see the result of the second data. While he was sitting there staring at the binary numbers flashing on the screen. I am writing a journal or diary to record what will happen on the following days. I can't believe that the Philippines is going to sink and millions of people will die. I hope the government will believe on what we discovered.

The "delamination", layers of crust peeling off. is a terrible geological phenomena. And according to my research, it will affect the Philippine plate. Thus, phenomena will have a feedback and will further pull the Philippines underneath even faster.
